And Kim Clark and Tisha Dorsey spoke to each applicant individually. That means each got no more than five minutes of Kim and Tisha’s time to make their pitch.
Such was the case at the HackerX invite-only recruiting event. On its website the company states, “Our events are organized in a rapid speed-dating format to keep things engaging and fun (that) ensures (employers) can meet the most developers.”
The IT industry is busting at the seams in both the public and private sectors with the seemingly unrelenting changes in computer software. And the apparent dearth of qualified and readily available IT techs has at times created a seller’s market.
In response HackerX has developed a cottage industry of recruiting with almost a shotgun marriage approach. Except in this case the “bride and groom” aren’t total unknown quantities.
Again on its site the company states, “To ensure (employers interview) quality (applicants), our events are invite-only for developers so almost everyone has a solid work history or background.” This does take some pressure off the HR department.
Did it work? Only time will tell. For Kim and Tisha it was quite a marathon. The pair went on a lot of dates in a very short period of time.
